Limiting Beliefs. What Are Yours?

I am too busy, I don’t have the time, I’m too fat, I am not good enough, I don’t have the education, I’m too old, I’m not qualified, I’m too young, I don’t have the money, I don’t deserve it, I’ll probably fuck up.

Everyone, I repeat, everyone has limiting beliefs about themselves that keep them from doing their very best and having exactly what they want. Even the most successful person has something they want to improve and chances are, there is some limiting belief that stands between actually moving forward and just wanting to. So what’s your story? What’s your limiting belief? And what is it costing you?

I have to admit, I let my limiting beliefs cost me a lot. And for a long time, too. It seemed easier that way. Allowing my limiting beliefs to guide me (hold me back, rather) was safer. It was less stressful, less risky and less anxiety provoking. I was happy enough and if I didn’t try, then there would be no risk of failure, disappointment or embarrassment. So instead of moving forward, I would pull back, make excuses and even self-sabotage so that I could avoid the potential risk of failure while simultaneously destroying any opportunity for great success, satisfaction, fulfillment and happiness.

The truth of the matter is, those limiting beliefs are likely the keeping you from doing what you’re really meant to do. So how can you change your limiting beliefs? If these beliefs are causing inaction, then it’s safe to say that changing these beliefs can lead to action, movement and progression.

Limiting belief statements, those which we tell ourselves everyday, must be changed into empowering beliefs and self talk in order to Move forward.

So how do you recognize a limiting belief? Well, statements that start with: I can’t, I won’t, I’m too, I’m not, I’ll never be able to or I’ll never be, are always suspect and a good place to start. Think of things you tell yourself that hold you back from what you really want. Those are your limiting beliefs.

Now, how do you change your limiting beliefs? Change the story you tell yourself. Re-write it and create the opposite belief. Make it your mantra every time you find yourself in a situation where you feel like pulling back or when you feel your limiting beliefs creeping in.

If your limiting belief is “I’m not good enough,” your empowering belief will be “I am more than enough and grateful for the smart and powerful person that I am.”

If your limiting belief is “I don’t have the time,” your empowering belief will be “I make time for that which is important to me.”

If your limiting belief is “I don’t deserve it,” your empowering belief will be “I am wonderful and worthy of love and success.”

You are stronger than your limiting beliefs. Make your empowering beliefs your mantra. Your beliefs about yourself shape who you are, what you do and who you will become. You deserve to have exactly what you want. You deserve to go from I don’t to I do, from I can’t to I can, from I am not to I AM. So Move Inward to discover what’s holding you back, Move Onward and change the way you think of yourself, what you deserve and what you are capable of and Move Forward toward your greatest potential and fulfillment.
